Harry Potter Series- A World Of Fantasy
Books are a great way to pass the time and acquire knowledge. Fantasy is a genre that helps to escape reality and enrich the imagination. Among all the fantasy books the Harry Potter series is very popular and its film adaptation is also well-received. Anyone who likes fantasy and magic will like the series no matter what their age is.Harry Potter Books
Harry Potter was written by British writer J. K Rowling and consists of seven novels. Its genre includes fantasy, school, drama, and mystery. The series mainly focuses on the life of a boy, Harry Potter, and his two best friends, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger. Harry is professed to kill the dark wizard named lord Voldemort, the main villain. J. K Rowling has created a whole new world inside the book where witches, wizards, magical creatures and magic exist and are separated from the normal world where non-magic people (muggles) live. However, this peaceful coexistence is in verse of being destroyed by Voldemort, who wants to dominate the whole world. Before he can succeed, Harry has to stop him.
The first book “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone” follows 11-year-old Harry Potter who lives with his aunt after his parents were killed by you know who (the lord voldamort). But he was told they died in a car accident his uncle and aunt. He believed that and lived with them despite the
mistreatment until the invitation of the magic academy Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry came knocking on his door. Harry starts his journey to the wizarding world and makes his very first friends (Ron and Hermione). This book mostly introduces various elements of the magic world. As the book is from the perspective of an 11-year-old kid, it might feel a bit childish for many older readers.“Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets” starts from Harry’s second year at Hogwarts. Many students were attacked and turned into stones (petrified) by a mysterious creature. The attacker seemed to come from the Chamber of Secrets. This book adds more depth and backstory to the characters. This makes them seem alive, in 3D, not some fictional characters and readers feel more attached to the series.Hogwarts
The third book, “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban” introduces many things and people from the dark wizarding world. It starts with the news of Sirius Black who escaped from Azkaban prison and is said to be after Harry's life. However, things turn in an unexpected direction. As the main characters grow their understanding of the world also grows. From this book onward many mysteries about Voldemort unfold and the theme gets darker.
The fourth book “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire” is about the Triwizard Tournament where two other wizarding school takes part with Hogwarts. One participant from each school, a total of three people thus the name Triwizard Tournament. The participants must be over 17 years old. But things don’t proceed without the protagonist. Harry (only 14 years old, fourth year) gets selected alone with Cedric Diggory from Hogwarts. The Triwizard Tournament continues with four participants.
Voldemort
Voldemort returns by the end of the fourth book. In Harry Potter and the Order of Phoenix, Albus Dumbledore (headmaster of Hogwarts) re-activates the Order of Phoenix to fight against Voldemort. The book elaborates on Voldemort, the Ministry of Magic, death eaters, and many others. This is the thickest book of the entire series.
The sixth book, Harry Potter and the Half-blood Prince focuses on both Harry Potter and the Half-blood Prince. Only towards the end, it is revealed who is the Half-blood Prince. The fight against the dark lord intensified in this book.
The last book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows follows Harry, Ron and Hermione’s journey to destroy Horcrux (pieces of Voldemort's soul). If all the Horcruxs are destroyed only then Voldemort can be killed.
Despite being fictional it has many relatable and hilarious moments. For example, how everyone struggles before exams (except for Hermione maybe), their hostel life (the students who are eager to go home as soon as the vacation starts but miss their friends after few days and do not want to stay home for long either). It shows every kind of student there is in a class. On the other hand, the book also contains dark and heartbreaking moments as well.
